Essential Functions and Primary Duties:

  • Assist Senior Tax Leadership in the overall management of the tax practice in one or more locations
  • Manage daily tax operations; processes, planning and scheduling, adhering and contributing to standardized processes across all business unit locations
  • Ensure approach and results align with Business Unit goals and objectives
  • Manage and coordinate all tax preparation staff, including staffing, scheduling/work allocation, employee relations, on-boarding, mentoring, coaching, training, supervising and evaluating staff
  • Daily/Weekly Scheduling
    • Identify workload allocation in collaboration with associates, managers and directors
    • Review associate schedules throughout the week
  • Manage tax preparation operations to insure efficiency and timely completion of workassigned.
  • Supervise or perform administrative details of all tax compliance season processes, including insuring deadlines are met and accurate records arekept.
  • Review weekly utilization trend & due date lists
  • Serve as first point of contact for staff and managerconcerns
  • Meet bi-weekly with staff to ensure alignment, be aware of any issues and escalate as appropriate to Tax Operations Director
  • Collaborate with Tax Group Leadership and HR to determine staffing needs and hire qualified candidates. Oversee staff development
    • Prepare and oversee on-boarding plans and progress
    • Oversee content, participation and coordination of Internship program
    • Monitor and coordinate on-going training needs for members of theteam
  • Fully participate in Tax Operations Meetings and Tax Process Committee
  • Assist in planning, facilitation and post communication related to Tax Leadership and Tax Group Meetings
  • Liaise and communicate with other locations and departments, asnecessary

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 6 + years of technical tax experience in public accounting or related field
  • 5 + years supervisory experience/management experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory ability, strong operational, planning and project management skills.
  • Show a passion for client service and possess outstanding communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management
  • Knowledge of CCH Axcess, ProStaff, Caseware, FirmFlow & BNA Income Tax Planner is a plus.
