CBIZ is looking for a Staff Accountant/Analyst responsible for performing the day to day GL accounting and financial reporting and analysis for assigned functional areas.



Essential Functions and Primary Duties:


• Perform Bank Reconciliations

• Responsible for P&C Division month end account reconciliations for assigned Balance Sheet accounts

• Monthly Cash Proofs

• Calculate and execute Covenant Payment – twice per month

• Maintain and provide documentation and data as support for Auditors – both internal and external

• Compile and maintain financial records such as journals, ledgers

• Prepare and post journal entries as required to general ledger

• Function as back up for the Property & Casualty Producer and Outside Broker commission payable process – this involves calculation of commissions due in accordance with relevant Producer contracts, posting expense accrual entries, communicating amounts due to payroll and also extensive communication with Producers, Outside Brokers and Management

• Assist with gathering the data necessary in order to provide timely and accurate monthly  forecast information

• Participate in our annual Budgeting process – assist by researching trends, analyzing prior year variances etc. as well as updating the budget software within published timeframes

• Respond to frequent ad hoc requests for data and deliverables from our ancillary systems

• Perform analytical projects for controller and unit leaders on a regular basis

• Assist with Special Projects - E.g. analysis and reformatting of raw data relating to potential Book Purchases.

• Review and Update Fixed Asset Schedule

• Review and provide secondary approval in Filebound system for A/P items greater than $5k

• Provide detailed reports to Unit Leaders in order to facilitate decision making surrounding T&E

• Provide necessary revenue confirmation to facilitate CPAYZ process

• Research variances, errors or anomalies in work product, escalating to management as appropriate

• Comply with federal, state and company policies, procedures, and regulations

• Assist with the gathering of data for and preparation and maintenance of reports to measure and monitor division and industry metrics

• Annual Tax Package

• Assist with Personal Property Tax filing

• Assist with Business Tax Filing



Preferred Qualifications:


• Insurance industry experience

• Three to five years of functional accounting experience

• Proficient use of advanced excel skills 

• Ability to set priorities and manage work flow to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate deliverables

• Advanced problem solving and critical thinking skills



Minimum Qualifications:


• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field, or relevant experience in lieu of a
degree

• Two years of functional accounting experience

• Proficient use of applicable technology

• Able to work in team environment

• Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of an
organization, both internally and externally
