About the Role

The Senior Principal will be a full-time permanent consultant supporting the Office of the CIO group within the CBIZ CMF team.  The primary responsibility for this role is to lead all aspects of our growing IT Diligence practice – including business development, practice development, resource sourcing and management, and delivery and execution of IT Diligence engagements.  Your primary clients will include private equity funds and, to a lesser extent, middle market companies engaged in M&A activities.  You will be a part of the leadership team for a fast-growing and entrepreneurial group, and will be expected to be a self-starter and visionary that is also willing to get their hands dirty when necessary. 

Essential Functions and Primary Duties

  • Responsible for leading and executing IT Diligence projects serving clients across industries, bringing broad sector experience to bear to understand operating models, business processes, and benchmarks as part of IT Diligence reviews
  • Manage all aspects of delivery of IT Diligence engagements for our clients from project startup, to onsite interviews and data gathering, analysis, deliverable creation and presentation – consistently exceeding client expectations
  • Possess executive presence with senior private equity leaders and C-level clients
  • Drive both business and practice development activities related to the IT Diligence practice
  • Utilize project management best practices to ensure budgets are estimated accurately and tracked against, margins are realized, and billing and collections standards are adhered to
  • Identify IT Diligence talent, providing mentorship and guidance to grow junior resources
  • Act as an internal leader to develop and continuously improve IT Diligence and other related methodologies and delivery capabilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Big 4 or similar consulting background
  • Minimum of 7 years of consulting experience with a specific industry domain expertise in one or more of the following from both an IT and business process perspective: manufacturing and distribution, healthcare, technology, business services, or retail/consumer products
  • Diverse consulting experience - comfort in abstract / new situations or knowledge domains
  • Direct experience leading an IT organization with responsibility for operations and enterprise-level architecture, or extensive experience consulting to IT leadership across the technology stack
  • Knowledge and experience working in the private equity and/or mergers and acquisitions environment, specifically in the areas of IT carve-out and merger integration leadership
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of managing complex IT-related projects
  • Strong project management methodology background, including the ability to scope engagements, define work breakdown structures and associated resource needs, manage client expectations, track risk and issues to delivery, and engage in strategic planning and analysis with senior client stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other Information Technology-related) or business degree with significant IT industry expertise
  • ERP / supply chain applications implementation and/or management experience preferred
  • Functional expertise in IT operations preferred
  • Ability to travel 50%

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in technology-related field or Business Degree with appropriate IT job experience
  • 7 years of experience in IT or technology consulting related field
  • 5 years of supervisory experience
  • Relevant IT certifications preferred
  • Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments and prioritize each assignment as necessary
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
  • Proficient use of applicable technology
  • Must be able to travel based on business needs
