The Senior Director of Accounting & Finance is responsible for direct supervision of all general corporate accounting functions.  Shares responsibility with the Corporate Controller for creating and implementing accounting policies, procedures and controls to make the close and reporting processes more efficient and accurate for corporate and all business units. Reports directly to the Corporate Controller.  Has direct and frequent contact with the CBIZ leadership team, including the CEO, CFO, business and functional leaders.  As a member of the CFO’s key leadership team, has a keen understanding of the business drivers and their impact on results. 

CBIZ is seeking a Senior Director of Accounting & Finance in our Corporate office. 

Essential Functions and Primary Duties:

  • SEC reporting
  • Manage external audit
  • Manage monthly closing
  • Review monthly and quarterly results with management
  • Intercompany and lease accounting
  • Consolidations
  • Equity accounting, stock based compensation and outstanding share maintenance
  • Fixed assets accounting
  • Acquisition and disposition accounting
  • Cost allocations
  • Legal and various other accruals and reserves
  • Bonus compensation accounting
  • Pre-paid expenses, notes receivable and payable
  • Cash reconciliations
  • Maintain accounting policy and proactively review adherence
  • Accounting research and FASB updates
  • Corporate office and certain centralized services accounting and planning
  • Provide strategic input and leadership on issues affecting the organization
  • Provide technical advice and knowledge to others within the department
  • Provides staff development and succession planning

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant preferred
  • 10 years of experience, including 6 years managing professional finance staff
  • Experience in managing SEC reporting required
  • Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments and prioritize each assignment as necessary
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
