CBIZ is looking for a candidate with great financial management consulting experience to help our clients in San Diego, Orange County, LA and the Bay area grow!  In addition, this candidate will help grow our risk management practice.

Essential Functions and Primary Duties:

We assist our clients on financial aspects of growth: cash flow planning, financial modeling, various financial analyses regarding their business, costing and streamlining their close process.  Clients have us oversee their accounting departments; others ask us to assess problem areas for them which may be financial or non-financial in nature.  We assess, make recommendations, improve processes and perform a variety of other consulting projects. 

Our consulting projects take us all over Southern California including the Bay area.  The right candidate will enjoy some travel of approximately one week plus a month.

The Risk Management practice involves performing and growing the SSAE 16 and SOC 2 internal control practice.  This work has a consultative readiness process which assesses how to improve the controls of a process relative to the SSAE 16 standard.  The readiness is then followed with performing the process audit.  This is a growing area and, as a national firm this work covers the Western US.  Most project work can be done from San Diego and typically can require a week or less of travel 1- 2 times a year per client.

Growth in the Financial Management Consulting position depends entirely on your success in all aspects of the role and your ability to enable growth by performing the engagements successfully and then designing and leveraging them with other staff to enable more capacity to grow the practice.  Ultimately, in this role, you are given the opportunity to determine the speed with which you move along your career path at CBIZ and MHM.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA, CPA, CMA, CISA, CIA- any are preferred
  • Financial audit is preferred with IT audit experience
  • Financial management experience a plus
  • Strong in Excel and preferably in financial modeling
  • Strong project management skills a plus
  • Ability, interest and willingness to travel one plus week a month
  • Self-starter, autonomous worker, team player
  • Strong technical skills
  • Good writing and communication skills, good presentation skills a plus
  • Needs to be outgoing
  • Detail oriented
  • Enjoy interacting with clients/team members 
  • Possess good financial experience and able to work autonomous
  • Interested in learning and performing the SSAE 16 and related internal control projects
  • Strong communication skills and strong report writing skills
  • Enjoy taking on new opportunities
  • Always look for new ways to help clients and pursue assisting other Directors in the firm with projects. 
  • You will also enjoy short travel assignments 1 – 2 times a month. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Achieve professional certifications relative to area of expertise, must have and preserve required licenses
  • Must possess analytical skills
  • Proficient use of applicable technology
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
  • Must be able to travel based on client and business needs
