CBIZ Retirement Plan Services (CBIZ RPS) is the largest Investment Advisor in the Cleveland, OH area and provides institutional consulting solutions to corporations, public entities, and non-profit organizations.  We primarily consult with companies on their 401(k), 403(b), or defined benefit pension plans, specializing in investment management, investment consulting, as well as compliance and design.  In total, CBIZ RPS consults on approximately $13 billion in assets, and our clients range from large multinational publicly-traded companies to small businesses. 

A CBIZ Retirement Plan Consultant is responsible for the day to day execution of client services administration for an assigned block of clients.  In this important role, the Retirement Plan Consultant is the “face” of CBIZ to our clients, solving complex customer service problems, maintaining data integrity and quality, preparing RFPs and taking the lead on renewals.  Retirement Plan Consultants serve as the client’s point of contact for all issues and services related to the account.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide superior client service by responding to client calls and emails in a timely basis and problem solving for clients
  • Assist clients with all initial and ongoing plan design support
  • Review plan documents and maintain a binder of permanent documents
  • Assist clients in meeting all IRS and Department of Labor deadlines necessary for qualified retirement plans
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of present legislation and proposed legislative changes with regard to ERISA law through self-study and by attending off site training
  • Review annual testing for plans including ADP\ACP, Top Heavy, 410(b), 415, 402(g)
  • Review Form 5500 and assist with audit questions
  • Lead the conversion process for clients by working closely with the Investment Analyst team and the applicable service providers
  • Document the retirement plan Committee’s activities on an annual basis to meet their fiduciary responsibility of reporting to the Board
  • Consult on retirement plan compliance as it relates to plan terminations, mergers and acquisitions
  • Create benefit plan communication for plan sponsors focusing on plan compliance
  • Create benefit plan communication for participants focusing on retirement education, as well as required Notices such as QDIA and QACA.
  • Perform research projects as needed
  • Prepare agenda items and content for Client meetings
  • Work with client Relationship Manager and Investment Consultant on Meeting follow-up/action items
  • Attend client meetings and assist with the presentation to Retirement Plan Committees  
  • Work closely with vendors responsible for plan administration
  • Proactively work with other Retirement Plan Consultants to improve internal processes

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3 years of relevant experience 
  • QKA required, QPA credentials strongly preferred
  • 403(b) plan experience preferred
  • High attention to detail 
  • Strong ability to prioritize, manage tasks, and meet deadlines in connection with business operations, including related ERISA compliance matters
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
  • Ability to manage own schedule and prioritize
