The National Tax Office Senior IT Analyst will perform activities to better leverage existing and new technology.  This person would assist selecting, evaluating, testing, implementing, and maintaining platforms for the tax practice and National Tax Office. They would also be integral in the preparation of documentation and project planning. Additionally, the analyst will be involved in developing system integrations and building templates to maximize platform functionality.  

Job Purpose / Objective

  • Assist in the documentation, testing, evaluation, implementation, and maintenance of the tax practice’s portfolio of applications
  • Develop integrations between the various applications and the data warehouse
  • Create templates and work papers that minimize risk and maximize the software platforms’ efficiency
  • Interface with key vendors’ IT departments to explore how the technology can be maximized
  • Explore emerging technologies that are or could impact the tax practice

Essential Functions and Primary Duties

  • Work with Corporate IT to build integrations between the various applications and data warehouse
  • Streamline and automate manual processes and leverage robotics where applicable
  • Assist with identifying the business needs and to be able to understand, collect, categorize, and prioritize all the requirements for a project
  • Document business case for projects
  • Assist in determining the effort and the cost of a project
  • Identify and facilitate the extraction and inclusion of key data elements for inclusion in data warehouse
  • Work with the NTO directors and managers to develop and maintain project plans  
  • Assist in deployment of applications including potential training of new users
  • Test new features or tools
  • Explore emerging technologies that are or could impact the tax practice
  • Assist with Tier 3 support for tax applications and interface with the vendors for resolutions

Qualifications Preferred:

  • MBA, CPA or PMI preferred but not essential.
  • CPA firm or similar professional services experience
  • Knowledge of the tax business
  • Proficient use of applicable technology (e.g., CCH Axcess Tax, CaseWare, various workflow and document management systems) 
  • Ability to work independently, manage small projects or parts of large projects
  • Must be comfortable working independently or as part of a team
  • Familiarity with common technical information system development concepts such as Application Design, Data Architecture, Data Warehouse, Data Design, User Interface Design, Data Integration, System Development Life Cycle, Waterfall and Agile project management, Application Maintenance, Packaged Application Integration.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, MIS, IT or related field
  • 6 years of relevant work experience
  • Must possess analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing within all levels of an organization, both internally and externally
  • Must be able to travel based on business needs
