Position Summary

An internship in the Health Innovations Practice provides both a learning opportunity and valuable hands on experience working in an insurance brokerage firm with a direct focus on strategies related to both improving the quality and lowering the cost of the health care supply chain for employers.  This position will assist in the establishment of internal protocols and processes related to the application and display of multi-variate data sources associated with health care purchasing and claims data along with other disparate and interrelated data elements that influence health care metrics.

Essential Functions and Primary Duties  

  • Perform analysis of current existing data sets and disparate data elements
  • Provide insight to properly structure existing data systems using biostatistical and epidemiological principles
  • Assist in the creation of ad-hoc queries and filters to establish population cohorts and other observation parameters
  • Apply stringent evidence-based quantitative methods to data aggregation and visualization processes
  • Assist in the creation of client materials, emails, presentations, etc.
  • Complete Excel dashboards and spreadsheets
  • Assist in the distribution or delivery of client materials
  • Filing and organization
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in bachelor’s degree in data science, biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology or relatable major
  • Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) fluency
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Access, Power BI, Tableau, Spotfire or other commensurate relational database and visualization software systems
  • Proficiency with Python or similar programming anguage.
  • GPA of 3.25 or above
  • Able to multi-task and see projects through to completion
  • Strong desire to learn along with professional drive
  • Ability to be self-motivated, self-directed
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects

Minimum Qualifications

  • You must be at least 18 years old
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Completed first year of college coursework
