Main Function: To provide prompt, efficient service to group clients and assist with the day to day operations of their employee benefit plans in the areas of administration and claims. Duties apply to multiple business unit locations as assigned.

Essential Functions and Primary Duties: 

  • Under general supervision and in compliance with department standards to as documentation and follow up, fields calls from client group administrators, their employees, healthcare providers and insurance carriers requiring assistance with the general administration in all areas of their employee benefits plans.
  • Maintains knowledge of various insurance carrier plans, administrative guidelines and transaction procedures
  • Provides benefit explanations to employers and employees
  • Assists employees in understanding claim payment procedures and results
  • Researches, upon request, claims for corrections of payment, denial or resolution
  • Works with employer and carriers to resolve billing issues
  • Works with clients and carriers to facilitate reinstatement of cancelled policies
  • Provides limited guidance with regard to State Continuation and COBRA laws
  • Contacts carriers and clients via phone and email
  • Inputs data into the appropriate software for vendors/carriers/clients within required timeframe 
  • Records and makes necessary changes/updates as appropriate 
  • Ensures that all internal controls and procedures are followed 
  • Exhibits client focused behavior and applies knowledge and training to support client needs 
  • Effectively operates all department equipment and software applications 
  • Executes administrative duties as assigned 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of two-year college degree in business related field or equivalent in pertinent work experience preferred 
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently 
  • Must obtain and preserve required licenses/certifications 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel 
  • Proficient use of applicable technology 
  • Demonstrated attention to detail preferred
  • Proven time-management and multi-tasking skills preferred
  • Strong project management ability preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
