CBIZ Retirement Plan Services (CBIZ RPS) is the largest Investment Advisor in the Cleveland, OH area and provides institutional consulting solutions to corporations, public entities, and non-profit organizations.  We primarily consult with companies on their 401(k), 403(b), or defined benefit pension plans, specializing in investment management, investment consulting, as well as compliance and design.  In total, CBIZ RPS consults on approximately $13 billion in assets, and our clients range from large multinational publicly-traded companies to small businesses. 

Essential Functions and Primary Duties

  • Perform annual actuarial work for DB and DB/DC combo plans, which includes:◦Census data gathering, reconciliation, quality control, and importation onto valuation software
  • Examine and verify retirement trust financial statements, compute actuarial value of assets for valuation
  • Run actuarial valuations and summarize results for review by manager or reviewing actuary
  • IRS Form 5500 and PBGC filings
  • Perform benefit calculations
  • Prepare accounting results
  • Prepare valuation funding reports
  • Coordinate valuation results mailings
  • Prepare actuarial studies and benefit statements
  • Coverage and non-discrimination testing
  • Track and meet all compliance standards
  • Assist with special actuarial projects
  • Management of client accounts
  • Direct client contact
  • Review client invoices for completeness and accuracy
  • Understanding and assisting in the interpretation of plan documents
  • Provide technical knowledge of pension plans and calculation procedures to Benefits Administration Team for various clients
  • Develop an understanding of fundamental principles of pension plans, actuarial concepts, pension legislation, and accounting requirements for pension plans
  • Pursue actuarial or ASPPA examinations
  • Review peer technical work flow

Qualifications Required

  • High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3 years of experience in related field
  • Achieve professional certifications relative to area of expertise, must have and preserve required licenses
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Presentation skills mandatory
  • Proficient use of applicable technology
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing within all levels of an organization, both internally and externally
  • Must be able to travel based on client and business needs
