Essential Functions and Primary Duties

Professional and Technical Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with clients and their external audit firms on technical accounting issues, private and public company financial reporting, and other accounting related projects
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with client personnel of various levels
  • Demonstrate excellent professional oral and written communication skills
  • Exhibit a professional, business–like demeanor
  • Ability to identify issues with and have a deep knowledge in the following areas: complex debt and equity, revenue recognition, contract costs, leases, business combinations, earnings per share, financial statement disclosure requirements, internal-use software, going concern analysis, impairment of tangible and intangible assets, including goodwill, segment reporting, CECL and consolidation issues (VIEs, equity method investments, joint ventures)
  • Mastering the requirements and elements of Form S-1, Form S-4, Form 10-Q, Form 10-K, including due dates and periods required to be presented in each
  • Ability to independently access and navigate technical accounting resources to apply and reference in technical accounting memos and form conclusions on complex issues
  • Develop extensive skills in audit procedures/facilitation, SEC reporting and technical GAAP
  • Apply problem solving skills and deliver ARC Consulting methodology on engagements
  • Build and broaden industry knowledge
  • Exercise professional judgment on engagements by identifying issues and providing proactive solutions

Responsibilities include:

  • Work directly with clients and their external audit firms on technical accounting issues, private company financial reporting, SEC reporting, IPOs and other accounting related projects
  • Understand the engagement as it relates to client's business and industry
  • Demonstrate knowledge in all areas of client industries (technology, software, SaaS, life sciences, biotech, fin-tech, health-tech)
  • Manage staff and manager utilization through delegation
  • Ensure engagement related products/deliverables are of the highest quality
  • Provide training to managers and staff on your engagements
  • Drafting technical accounting memos and creating other deliverables related to client engagements
  • Work with client’s audit team and National office on complex technical accounting matters Drafting and/or reviewing private and public company financial statements, including financial sections of an S-1 and S-4
  • Implementation of ASC 606 and ASC 842
  • Review and discuss deliverables and workpapers with the client and the external audit team
  • Recognize and communicate opportunities to sell 'add–on' work to client
  • Simplify complex messages, highlighting and summarizing key points
  • Deliver services that meet ARC Consulting standards of excellence

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week
  • BA/BBA/BS in Accounting, Finance or business-related field required
  • CPA is required
  • 8+ years related experience required
  • MBA/MS/MA degree is a plus
  • Passion for helping clients with a strong interest in technical accounting and executing deals
  • Hard working, disciplined, detail oriented and ability to motivate engagement teams
  • Actively pursuing opportunities to develop existing and new skills, which are outside of your comfort zone; maintaining positive energy in the face of obstacles or when dealing with complexity; and, acting to resolve issues
  • Ability to manage teams and own their work product
  • Experience writing complex technical accounting position papers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Aptitude for technical accounting research and self-education, desire to learn and be an expert
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP is required (revenue recognition, complex debt and equity accounting, stock-based compensation expense, business combinations, leases, consolidations and financial reporting)
  • Knowledge of IFRS standards is a plus
  • Prior public accounting or consulting experience is required
  • Prior industry experience in software/SaaS and life sciences/biotech is required
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a virtual environment
  • Proficiency in MS office products, with strong Excel skills, Word and PowerPoint is required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 7 years’ experience in related field
  • 5 years supervisory
  • Must have and preserve required licenses
  • Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments and prioritize each assignment as necessary
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
