Essential Functions and Primary Duties

  • Management of large unclaimed property projects spanning multiple years (i.e., voluntary disclosures and audit controversy), including preparation of engagement deliverables (such as research, analysis conclusions, memoranda, working papers, etc.)
  • Management of annual compliance process (including review of annual reports, management of due diligence process, monitoring legislative updates, communications with clients, etc.)
  • Development of abandoned and unclaimed property (“AUP”) technical knowledge, collaborating with client teams to assist with client AUP issues
  • Responsible for client management and administration such as budgets, monthly billing analyses, etc.
  • Development of excellent working relationships with all levels of CBIZ staff to better support client relationships
  • Excels in creative problem solving, critical thinking, and professional writing
  • Detail oriented and organized with the ability to efficiently multi-task from project to project
  • Responsible for development, supervision, and mentoring of staff
  • Works within communicated budgets, and listens and communicates effectively with CBIZ teams and clients
  • Fosters a team environment; demonstrates support of management decisions and build a positive culture
  • Maintains and complies with the highest degree of professional standards, client confidentiality and personal conduct
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Taxation or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in the abandoned and unclaimed property field
  • Financial statement audit experience preferred, but not required
  • Experience in controversy negotiating voluntary disclosure agreements and overseeing state and/or third-party audits

Minimum Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 6 years of experience in public accounting or related field
  • 3 years supervisory experience
  • Must have active CPA or equivalent certification
  • Ability to manage all aspects of client engagements
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
  • Must be able to travel based on client and business needs
  • Proficient use of applicable technology
