Experienced professional with expertise in managing complex systems and billing practices within a professional services environment. The time and billing system professional will work closely with IT, finance and operations teams to ensure the system is operating effectively and providing maximum value to the firm. The role reports to the Director of Practice Management Solutions within our Practice Management Office.
Job Purpose / Objective:
To ensure efficient and effective use of the time and billing system to support business processes, including time tracking, billing/invoicing, project management for clients and jobs, and reporting.
Essential Functions and Primary Duties:
• Manage implementation and maintenance of the time and billing system for audit, tax and advisory service lines
• Develop and maintain product roadmap for the time and billing system, outlining priorities and timelines
• Develop or enhance policies, procedures and standard operating practices for effective use of the time and billing system
• Ensure that the system is fully integrated with other internal systems, such as accounting and resource management systems
• Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for improvement
• Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure system meets business needs and client expectations
• Develop and maintain reporting dashboards to provide insights into operational health of audit, tax and advisory service lines
• Train and support users on efficient and effective use of the time and billing system, providing ongoing support and guidance as needed
• Provide regular updates and recommendations to the Director of Practice Management Solutions and other senior leaders on system performance, system adoption and utilization, and recommendations for improvement
• Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers to ensure system is up-to-date and functioning properly
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, information technology or related field
• 5+ years of experience managing complex systems, in product management, or business analysis within a professional services environment
• Expert knowledge of billing practices within a professional services environment
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders across departments
• Experience with Agile methodologies and product development lifecycle
• Experience with time and billing systems, preferably in a professional services environment, or other financial systems is a plus
• Strong project management skills with a track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
• Ability to travel as required by business
