Essential Functions and Primary Duties

  • Responsible for day to day Defined Benefit Pension Plan administration operations for assigned Clients in coordination with internal Shared Services team and Service Center team
  • Administration of normal defined benefit processing such as death cases, disability, retirement and estimate packages, deductions/reimbursements, trustee maintenance (data entry and/or review/approval), client feed maintenance
  • Work directly with Clients and CBIZ Relationship Manager to grow client relationship and provide support with regard to escalations, new projects, operations updates and non-standard requests
  • Manage Benefit Specialists working on the Client Services team
  • Responsible for fostering team-oriented culture
  • Resolve escalations from the Service Center such as plan participant concerns, payroll errors, plan provision questions, and administrative nuances
  • Complete and/or provide final review and oversight of work performed by internal resources such as plan specification documents, benefit calculations, and valuation censuses
  • Work with third-party vendors
  • Attend offsite and onsite client meetings
  • Perform or review complex benefit calculations requiring plan expertise and knowledge of actuarial concepts
  • Responsible for the continuous improvement of processes to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of service to clients
  • Support of Audit functions and respond to auditor questions 
  • Administration of Qualified Domestic Relations Orders
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Experience in building and tracking automated administrative processes using Case Management system(s)
  • Understanding and experience in applying SQL database capabilities to business operations
  • Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA)

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED  
  • Over six years of DB professional, administration experience
  • Possesses an advanced understanding of industry and professional concepts, principles, practices, and procedures
  • Expert knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations and professional standards
  • Proficient use of applicable technology
  • Proficient use of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and enterprise communication and travel solutions (Concur, Skype)
  • Experience performing work that requires initiative and leadership skills
  • Experience in coaching and teaching others 
  • Ability to contract with and influence leaders in the organization, good at networking, collaboration, and sharing of ideas and successes
  • Strong problem solver with good business analysis skills (e.g. build business cases, develop and implement plans for business cases, ask probative questions to identify requirements)
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple simultaneous assignments, manage to critical deadlines, with extraordinary attention to detail
  • Demonstrate an open-minded approach to understanding people regardless of differences; effectively works with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Address conflicts by focusing on the issues at hand to develop effective solutions when disputes or disagreements occur; helps others resolve conflicts by providing impartial mediation when needed
