Essential Functions and Primary Duties:

  • Consult with plan sponsors and retirement committees on matters related to: fiduciary governance, plan design, plan compliance, vendor oversight, fees & expenses, participant engagement, and investment advisory (if licensed)
  • Handle all day-to-day inquiries and service requests for assigned client base, responding to and resolving routine client questions or requests in a timely manner
  • Target 100% client retention
  • Proactively schedule, conduct, and lead client committee meetings (annually, semi-annually, or quarterly).  Includes coordination with the strategic advisor, client committee, and vendors.  Also includes the preparation and delivery of meeting materials and completion of post-meeting documentation and follow-up
  • Maintain regular communication between all parties (plan sponsor, committee members, recordkeeper, TPA, actuary, attorney, etc.) to strengthen client satisfaction and further deepen the client relationship
  • Coordinate with outside business partners as needed (recordkeepers, TPAs, investment managers) to manage client requests to successful completion.
  • Maintain detailed notes/logs of client interactions and ensure all documentation is stored properly per firm protocols
  • Proactively address outstanding inquiries and develop possible solutions to alleviate future inquiries
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • FINRA Series 65 license (or willingness to obtain within 6 months of employment)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least five years of professional, retirement plan advisory experience in a 401(k) and/or 403(b) environment
  • At least five years of client service or client management experience, including strong comfort level with client-facing (in-person or remote) interactions
  • Possesses advanced knowledge and understanding of industry and professional concepts, principles, practices, and procedures:

    ―   Familiarity and working knowledge of ERISA guidelines and regulations.

    ―   Familiarity and working knowledge of plan compliance: plan design, plan documents, non-discrimination testing, DOL & IRS required notices/disclosures, Form 5500s and plan audits.

    ―   If licensed, familiarity and working knowledge of investment concepts: economic & capital markets, investment lineups, investment vehicles, and general retirement planning theories.

    Familiarity and working knowledge of plan vendors: recordkeeper/TPA relationships, fee structures, and plan benchmarking, and RFPs/RFIs
  • AIF, CFPA, QKA or similar industry designation, or willingness to obtain a designation within first 12 months of employment
  • Proficient use of applicable technology, predominately MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and enterprise communication and travel solutions (Concur, Teams)
  • Experience performing work that requires initiative, high attention to detail, and strong organizational skills
  • High degree of personal integrity
  • Ability to anticipate and elicit customer needs
  • Ability to self-learn and develop business and technical knowledge quickly
  • Motivated team player with demonstrated interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable working with quick turnaround times and deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.  Ability to communicate technical concepts in a clear, concise manner whether written or verbal
