Essential Functions and Primary Duties:
- Coordinate and manage new client implementations
- Prepare and maintain administration manuals in accordance with plan provisions
- Manage delivery of administrative services in accordance with contract terms
- Analyze and reconcile census data for recordkeeping and reporting purposes
- Manage HRIS / Payroll interface with the plan sponsor
- Determine eligibility and vesting in accordance with plan provisions
- Review benefit calculations to ensure agreement with plan provisions
- Prepare and maintain system specifications in accordance with plan provisions
- Design and maintain template forms and letters associated with contracted services
- Prepare disbursement instructions for the plan’s paying agent
- Coordinate distribution of participant disclosures required under ERISA (e.g. AFNs)
- Respond to routine and complex questions and information requests from plan fiduciaries, auditors and authorized agents thereof
- Resolve escalations and other complex situations involving benefit plan participants
- Assist with the implementation and communication of procedural changes needed to comply with new legislation and regulatory guidance
- Coordinate and manage special projects including lump sum windows, annuity buyouts, early retirement windows, etc.
- Prepare client invoices and respond to internal and external questions related thereto
- Train and develop staff including group presentations
- Lead client conference calls and occasionally attend and lead onsite and offsite client meetings, as applicable
- Administer Qualified Domestic Relations Orders
- Assist with the development of internal quality assurance standards and monitor staff adherence thereto
- Assist with new business proposals
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Qualified Pension Analyst (“QPA”) or equivalent
- Fundamental knowledge of SQL (e.g., writing queries and interpreting stored procedures and functions)
- Experience in building and tracking automated administrative processes using Case Management system(s)
- Experience as primary contact for day-to-day client relationships
- Experience testing systems changes prior to deployments
- Experience with Microsoft Word Mail Merge
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Over six years of DB professional, administration experience
- Expert knowledge of the pension benefits industry including professional concepts, customary principles, practices, and procedures
- Advanced knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations and professional standards related to retirement plan administration
- Mastery of MS Excel and proficiency with other MS Office Suite applications (Outlook, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Teams); experience with VBA a plus
- Past experience performing work that requires initiative and leadership skills
- Past experience in coaching and teaching others
- Proficient leadership skills and a desire for continued professional growth
- Ability to identify problems, analyze alternatives and manage solutions
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple assignments for different clients
- Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining extraordinary attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively with others
- Ability to provide guidance and direction to staff in connection with complex issues
- Ability to travel as necessary
