This position will assist and report to the CBIZ lead national health and welfare actuary. The position will include financial assessments of employee benefits, forecasting health care benefit costs, forecasting health care actuarial reserves, predictive modeling, data analytics, forecasting the economic impact of the health care reform.

Essential Functions and Primary Duties:

  • Research, collect, manipulate, interpret and verify data
  • Prepare and distribute analytical data reports and/or records
  • Respond to inquiries made regarding analysis and reports
  • Work with the defined scope of the project
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 3-5 years of actuarial experience in group health
  • Near-ASA or ASA credential
  • Strong capability to act as a subject matter expert on cross-functional projects involving actuarial and non-actuarial resources.
  • Experience in effective technical communication in cross-functional environments

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of actuarial experience
  • Three actuarial exams or more
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Must be able to comprehend, manipulate and interpret statistical data for use in a problem-solving capacity
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
  • Proficient use of applicable software, in particular, Excel, Access, etc.
  • Extensive proficiency in programming languages, e.g. VBA, SQL, R, etc.
