The Risk Consultant works as a member of the Client Services group in providing outstanding service to our valued clients. This position performs many of the duties of an entry-level accountant including working directly with corporate clients, under the supervision of upper-level management.

Essential Functions & Primary Duties

  • Gain an understanding of and assist in planning and performance of various internal control and compliance focused engagements, including, but not limited to, outsourced and co-sourced internal audits, information technology audit, ISO/IEC 27001:2013, and SOC examination engagements.
  • Learn and execute strong understanding of client risk assessments and control implementation, quality control standards and technology implementation procedures relative to individual client assignments.
  • Participate in client assignments from beginning to end.
  • Identify and communicate client control deficiencies, engagement issues, technical matters, and opportunities for improvement with CBIZ Associates, Senior Associates, Managers, and Directors timely.
  • Develop and demonstrate excellent working relationships with all levels of client staff to increase customer satisfaction and to strengthen client relationships.
  • Demonstrate ability to take direction from the CBIZ team and subsequently execute the directed tasks accurately and independently for periods of time on client engagements.
  • Pledge to provide exceptional service to every client by providing individual attention, responsiveness, and commitment to understanding their goals and needs.
  • Maintain and comply with the highest degree of professional standards, client confidentiality, and personal conduct.
  • Willingness to attend industry meetings to market CBIZ services.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Management Information Systems, Information Technology Security, or related discipline.
  • Working knowledge of COSO 2013, COBIT, ISO/IEC 27001, CIS Critical Security Controls, HIPAA, Safe Harbor Privacy Rules and/or other frameworks are a plus.
  • Willingness to pursue an internal control-related certification within the first year or two of employment, such as CISA, CIA, CISSP, CISM, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of the organization, both internally and externally.
  • Strong computer and technical skills including, Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
  • Must be able to travel domestically up to 20% annually.
