National Director of Corporate & Strategic Communications

Job Purpose/Objective:

The Director of Corporate & Strategic Communications is responsible for developing, executing, and driving continuous improvement for a comprehensive internal communication strategy aligned to our CBIZ core values and ongoing efforts to enhance our team member experience. In partnership with the Senior Leadership team, this role develops and oversees corporate communications that target our team members at all levels of the company, drives consistency with messaging, and sets standards for effective internal and strategic communications. This role reports to the Chief Administrative Officer and is a member of the corporate leadership team.

Essential Functions & Primary Duties:

  •         Develops and executes a comprehensive corporate communications strategy that aligns to and reinforces the CBIZ core values and brand. Provides consistent      and timely information to team members through various communications programs. Develops templates, resources and tools including content for leaders to      share information and enhance communication within their teams.
  •         Crafts, edits, and refines content to support the execution of the internal communications strategy.
  •         Develops and implements standards for internal communication to drive consistency in format, style, and messaging across the company.
  •         Designs and implements internal communications campaigns to deliver critical information including corporate strategy.
  •         Drives continuous improvement in corporate communications to ensure communications are effective, reaching the intended audience and supporting the            continued growth of the company.
  •         Establishes and monitors communication performance metrics to assess efficacy and use data to propose and implement new communications solutions.
  •         Establishes a process for company-wide communications to capture, vet and act on requests for information-sharing with the team. Develops, composes,           distributes, and implements policies to support corporate communications.
  •         Serves as main point of contact for internal and crisis communications, developing new procedures as needed to create a uniform approach and response.
  •         Drives internal storytelling to reinforce CBIZ as the employer of choice for our team members and as part of overall talent attraction, recruitment, retention,        and engagement strategies.
  •         Working in partnership with the CBIZ National Marketing Team, leverages external platforms (such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, etc.) and CBIZ.com to            engage team members.
  •         Leads and oversees communications on internal digital platforms (intranet).
  •         Leads and/or supports the development of presentations, speeches, and other key corporate messaging opportunities for CEO and other members of the              senior leadership team and supports delivery of these communications.
  •         When needed, serves as an on-the-record spokesperson who demonstrates skills to influence CBIZ team members.

Preferred Experience:

  •         8-10 years of strong writing and presentation skills experience with the ability to conceptualize, structure, write, and present compelling content for a wide         range of audiences. Demonstrated track record of increasing responsibility including leading a team.
  •         Ability to translate complex ideas into clear, influential communications and to manage multiple projects and/or teams simultaneously while working                    independently in a fast-paced environment.
  •         Experience in managing new platforms and tools for audience engagement.  
  •         Deep knowledge of technology space including new uses of company intranets and digital communications.  
  •         Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills. Prior experience working with executive leaders, teams of cross functional employees        and multiple partners and stakeholders.  
  •         Self-starter, highly motivated and comfortable in high-pressure, confidential situations.  
  •         Exceptional verbal, written and presentation communication skills. Strong attention to detail.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in related field
  • 8 years of experience in related field
  • Certification preferred 
  • Ability to manage deadlines 
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments and prioritize accurately
  • Proficient use of applicable technology
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally (and externally as applicable)
  • Proven high level of business integrity, client service and leadership skills
  • Must be able to travel based on department needs
