CBIZ is hiring a Corporate Benefits Manager to assist in the administration of the group sponsored benefit plans, to include the CBIZ Retirement Plan, 529, ESPP, Cafeteria Plan, Health and all voluntary health and welfare plans, and assist in the process of keeping the corporate benefits and compensation planning toolbox current and maintained.  The role requires daily use of the suite of Microsoft platforms including Excel, various proprietary and benefit carrier platforms.  Internal customers and vendor contact is daily.

Essential Functions and Primary Duties:

• Responsible for all Benefit Team operations and other duties as assigned by the Director

• Develop an expert level of understanding of the all group and voluntary benefit plans in order to assist with inquiries from associates and HR Business Partners.  


• Responsible for creating communications to support benefits related initiatives and activities, including but not limited to program announcements, support information, benefits resources and Newsletters. 

• Strive to maintain consistent branding themes; first and foremost within corporate marketing guidelines; and within a branding initiative established by particular benefit plan (i.e. MassMutual), the Benefits Team or HR leadership. 

• Maintain records of all communications (flyers, notices, forms, postings) and plan documents in the Benefits Team’s private Shared Drive.  

• Consistency in administering benefit plans is critical.  It’s important to develop and maintain a system for keeping track of plan administration and how escalated cases are managed.  Archive the information in a manner that is easily accessible. 

• Keep all benefit-related postings current.  Posting sites include HR Administrator’s site, the Employee Service Center website, Great Health Portal, What Moves You section, etc.

Retirement Plan:

• Serve as the daily contact for retirement plan matters with the third party record keeper

• Gain a superior knowledge of the retirement plan record keeper administrator’s website, including the ability to report on participant balances, participant loans and system integration with Payroll

• Develop a good level of understanding of the retirement plan in order to assist with associate questions and issues that have been escalated to the Corporate Benefits office.


• Develop a working knowledge of HCM and M3 and how associate data flows to the Hub (data warehouse) and interfaces with the ESC, MassMutual and to each of our benefit carrier’s systems.  

• Assist with periodic audits and corrections with the intent to improve system integration and process design.


• Develop a superior level of knowledge of the third party COBRA administrator’s software and processes; specifically as it relates to eligibility and billing 

• Participate in the review and maintenance of all systems integrated to support COBRA; so as to assist in identifying errors and making corrections. 

• Oversee the month-end vendor-pay reconciliation process

Annual Open Enrollment:

• Oversee and execute the process of tracking benefit plan changes throughout the year, drafting the revisions to update the Benefits Guide, forms, flyers, communications and submitting them to the Director for final approval.  

• Coordinate with the marketing team to apply approved edits and changes (to the Benefits Guide) using their proprietary publishing software.  Review for accuracy and resubmit as needed.   

• Oversee the Benefit Specialist in the development of the distribution spreadsheet to ensure each associate in each location receives a Benefits Guide and other OE materials.     

• Oversee the process to update all information posted to the ESC website.  

Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation Plan:

• Oversee the execution of identifying newly eligible participants each month.

• Send email announcement to inform individual’s they are eligible to enroll; coordinate with MullinTBG to send a follow-up email to each person with plan information and enrollment instructions.


• Oversee the making of individualized loan packets for loan holders for distribution during Welcome Meetings. 

• Oversee the intake of associate’s loan paperwork; compile data to complete the Loan Spreadsheet to submit to MassMutual. 

• Once the deal is finalized, send notice and final demographic details to MassMutual, The Hartford and Unum. 

Great Health:

• Administer all Great Health projects and activities. 

• Oversee the execution of the monthly HRA report that notifies the ESC that an associate has earned the Personal Rewards discount. 

Preferred Requirements:

• PHR/SPHR certification 

• Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of increasingly responsible HR management experience 

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED with 5 years experience as strong HR generalist background 

• Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally

• Demonstrated ability in negotiation and conflict resolution

• Proficient use of applicable technology

• Strong organizational skills, ability to multi -tasking and prioritize

• Must have attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines

• Must be able to travel based on client and business needs
