CBIZ’s approach to marketing continues to rapidly evolve and our next Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) will lead the development and execution of strategies to achieve our growth goals by elevating our brand, expanding our digital reach and enhancing our clients’ experience. Our CMO will also develop and direct the strategy to establish CBIZ and its business leaders as industry thought leaders and identify opportunities to amplify our content to reach a broader audience of clients and prospects. The CMO leads our Marketing team (approx. 60 FTE) and manages relationships with a variety of vendors and external partners. As a member of the senior leadership team, the CMO serves as a thought partner to the CEO and business leaders and works in close coordination with other functional leaders to drive measurable outcomes. We anticipate that our next CMO will bring a proven approach that enables CBIZ to navigate the ever-changing digital landscape and will manage a blended team of internal and external resources to meet these objectives. This position is a member of the executive leadership team and is a dual report to the President and Chief Executive Officer and the Chief Administrative Officer. This position is based in the CBIZ Corporate headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio.
Responsibilities:
BRAND STRATEGY
- Develops and executes a compelling brand strategy and ensures our brand message is communicated and understood in the market.
- Optimizes brand equity by capturing and analyzing brand performance metrics and driving continuous improvement.
- Brings a dynamic approach to expanding brand exposure including through new channels and methods of engagement. Cultivates and leverages partnerships to accelerate these efforts.
- Provides oversight for all advertising campaigns.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & DEMAND GENERATION
- Partner with business leaders across the company to develop and execute comprehensive digital business development and demand generation strategies and integrated marketing campaigns to drive revenue growth and market share.
- Monitors and identified emerging digital trends and develop strategies to capitalize on these opportunities to advance our business.
- Enhances existing tools (website, social media, etc.) to target decision-makers.
- Builds centralized resources to standardize and increase quality of proposal and RFP response development, sales presentations and deliverables.
- Maintains a centralized repository of industry qualifications.
- Increases the number of clients that purchase multiple CBIZ services and continue to refine a process that supports and institutionalizes this approach.
CLIENT EXPERIENCE
- Champions a client-centric approach to service and develops and implements strategies to enhance the overall client experience.
- Increase ease of doing business with CBIZ through client portals and related tools.
- Capture client insights and satisfaction feedback to strengthen and refine our approach to measuring and managing client experience. Utilize client satisfaction data to expand share of wallet for existing clients.
- Fosters an operating culture where the CRM is central.
THOUGHT LEADERSHIP
- Positions company and business leaders as thought leaders within their respective industries.
- Builds a content generation process that differentiates CBIZ and further amplifies our brand.
- Directs content marketing across a variety of channels including events strategy (both virtual and in-person).
- Cultivates strategic partnerships and collaborations to increase industry influence and recognition.
- Develops thought leadership pieces that are compelling and reflect CBIZ’s depth of expertise.
OPERATIONS & TEAM LEADERSHIP
- Serves as advisor and thought partner to Senior Leadership Team and provides regular updates on marketing and business development trends.
- Leads and manages the marketing team (60+ professionals).
- Establishes and measures service levels aligned to the business goals and objectives.
- Monitors marketing performance to support data-driven decisions to optimize marketing efforts.
- Gathers market intelligence to guide and refine overall strategies and efforts.
- Supports the evaluation and integration of acquisitions.
- Identifies opportunities to leverage different kinds of capacity (outsourcing, offshoring) to scale marketing organization to support the growth of business.
- Oversees and directs existing business development tools (CBIZ Solutions App).
- Conducts annual budget planning and maintains ongoing budget and forecast oversight.
- Drives process improvement and best practices within operations including the use of technology.
- Develops and mentors talent to establish a sustainable operation with a long-term succession plan.
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPEREINCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business, Data Analytics or related field from an accredited institution. Master’s Degree (Marketing or Business) preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant work experience with demonstrated increasing responsibility leading marketing functions preferably within a professional services business.
- Demonstrated success in digital business development resulting in revenue growth and navigating a rapidly changing digital landscape.
- Strong understanding of branding principles and past experience developing and implementing brand strategies.
- Understanding of and experience operating SEO, CRM (Salesforce) and various analytics platforms.
- Analytical mindset and experience implementing a strategic vision into a tactical operational model.
- Track record of building and leading high performing teams.
- Ability to lead in a manner that moves at the speed of business.
- Excellent project management, drafting, researching and time management skills.
- Adept experience working with business leaders in a highly matrixed, complex business to develop collaborative solutions to business and organizational needs.
