We are currently seeking a Business Development Consultant with a passion for sales and a foundational understanding of business, finance and/or accounting. This role will be based in our Kansas City office and will focus on supporting our efforts to sell Accounting, Tax, and Advisory Services to Middle Market Businesses and larger enterprises in various industries, including Manufacturing, Retail Distribution, Construction, Real Estate, Professional Services, and Not-for-Profit.
As a Business Development Consultant, your main responsibility will be to assist in generating sales opportunities for CBIZ by targeting specific industries in the Kansas City markets. You will work closely, alongside Client Service Teams, with key decision-makers, including Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), Chief Financial Officers (CFOs), and other financial leaders, to grasp their needs, future plans, and openness to change. Your goal is to identify new opportunities for CBIZ to provide a range of financial services, including accounting, tax, and advisory solutions.
To thrive in this role, you will continuously identify and qualify new sales prospects by building relationships, participating in enterprise sales programs and campaigns, and utilizing digital programming. You will have a Business Development Mentor and collaborate with Client Service Teams and Marketing Team to execute sales campaigns tailored to specific industries and markets. Your focus on learning more about our teams unique skillsets and the targeted industries will enable you to present tailored solutions and emphasize CBIZ's value proposition.

Understand and Articulate Services:
Develop a deep understanding of CBIZ Accounting, Tax & Advisory Solutions.
Clearly articulate the features, benefits, and unique selling points of CBIZ services.
Build an understanding of our existing client base and targets to identify prospects within your professional network.
Relationship Building:
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, Client Service Teams and prospects.
Establish trust and credibility with Client Service Teams and Prospects through effective communication and follow-up.
Needs Analysis:
Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify prospect requirements and challenges.
Identify opportunities where CBIZ services can provide value and address prospect needs.
Consultative Selling:
Adopt a consultative selling approach, understanding and addressing prospect needs.
Position CBIZ services as solutions to specific prospect problems.
Industry Knowledge:
Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of the industry to effectively communicate the alignment of CBIZ services with prospect needs.
Effective Communication:
Develop strong communication skills to convey complex service offerings clearly.
Tailor communication styles to different audiences, adapting to technical experts or C-level executives.
Value Proposition:
Articulate a compelling value proposition for CBIZ Accounting, Tax & Advisory Services.
Highlight unique benefits and advantages that differentiate CBIZ services from competitors.
Collaboration with Delivery Teams:
Collaborate with delivery and implementation teams to ensure a seamless transition from sales to service delivery.
Maintain open communication channels to address prospect concerns during the delivery phase.

Adjust sales strategies based on feedback and evolving prospect requirements.
Sales Metrics:
Plan and report on sales activity using Salesforce CRM enterprise application.

Minimum Qualifications:
- The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and a fundamental understanding of business administration.
- Proven sales ability with a minimum of 2 years of direct sales experience.
- Growth mindset and ability to quickly learn new concepts and technologies.
- Knowledge of C-level persona-types and their buying triggers and patterns.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, plus strong presentation skills.
- Effective time management and multitasking abilities.
- Experience selling Professional Advisory, Accounting Consulting, and/or Specialty Tax services is a plus.
