Essential Functions and Primary Duties:

  • Assist with new client implementations
  • Administer Defined Benefit processes, including retirement/ disability/ estimate calculation requests, death processing, pension payments and trustee maintenance (review and trust reconciliation), data feed reviews and maintenance, periodic reporting, etc.
  • Resolve escalations from the Service Center such as plan participant concerns, payroll errors, plan provision questions, and administrative nuances
  • Assist with the preparation of plan specification documents, administrative or provisional procedure documentation, non-standard benefit calculations, and valuation census files
  • Coordinate professionally with third-party vendors
  • Read and interpret Defined Benefit pension plan documents or administrative guidance materials as they relate to administration of the plan
  • Perform or review benefit calculations requiring plan expertise and basic knowledge of actuarial concepts
  • Assist in identifying areas where process improvements can increase the efficiency and effectiveness of service to clients
  • Support audit functions and respond to auditor questions 
  • Administer Qualified Domestic Relations Orders
  • Adhere to internal quality assurance standards
  • Occasionally attend offsite and onsite client meetings, as applicable
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned
  • Primary day-to-day contact for certain clients

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Fundamental knowledge of SQL (e.g., writing queries and interpreting stored procedures and functions)
  • Experience in building and tracking automated administrative processes using Case Management system(s)
  • Experience as primary contact for client day-to-day relationships
  • Advanced understanding of Defined Benefit industry, regulations, and actuarial concepts
  • Strong leadership skills and a desire for continued professional growth
  • Experience testing systems changes prior to deployments
  • Experience with Microsoft Word Mail Merge

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or GED  
  • 2 to 4 years of professional, retirement plan administration experience
  • Fundamental knowledge of the pension benefits industry including professional concepts, customary principles, practices, and procedures
  • Fundamental knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations and professional standards related to retirement plan administration
  • Mastery of MS Excel and Proficiency with other MS Office Suite applications (Outlook, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Teams); experience with VBA a plus
  • Proven track record of being a motivated team player
  • Strong problem solver with good analysis skills; experience reconciling data discrepancies
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple assignments for different clients
  • Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining extraordinary attention to detail
  • Ability to self-learn and develop business and technical knowledge quickly 
  • Ability to learn basic SQL querying
  • Takes ownership of work responsibilities
  • Demonstrates an open-minded approach to understanding people; effectively works with people at different levels within and outside of the organization
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately to different audiences (peers, client contacts, manager, systems and service center teams, etc.)
