Essential Functions and Primary Duties:
- Analyze and reconcile data maintained in connection with retirement plans including pension, retiree medical, deferred compensation and severance.
- Process updates to retirement plan data based on external sources (e.g., sponsor HRIS / payroll provider)
- Perform or review benefit calculations requiring retirement plan expertise and basic knowledge of actuarial concepts
- Prepare or review estimates, election kits and other communication materials for retirement plan participants
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of specification documents in connection with the configuration of systems used to administer retirement plans
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of administration manuals documenting retirement plan provisions and operating procedures
- Assist with the development and ongoing maintenance of web-based portals designed to assist retirement plan participants and sponsors
- Assist with process improvements initiatives designed to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of service to retirement plan sponsors
- Research retirement plan documents and prior administrative procedures to resolve member and/or sponsor questions
- Coordinate professionally with third-party vendors
- Respond to questions from internal and external auditors, as applicable
- Occasionally attend offsite and onsite client meetings, as applicable
- Interact with retirement plan sponsors as a day-to-day contact with supervision and support
- Support the service center in connection with participant inquiries involving retirement plan data, provisions and administrative procedures
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Courses in Math, Finance, Accounting, English, Computer Science or Actuarial Science
- Data analytics experience, working knowledge of SQL a plus (e.g., joining tables, specifying query criteria, grouping results, etc.)
- General familiarity with actuarial concepts and calculations involved with retirement plan administration
- General understanding of the statutory and regulatory requirements governing employee benefit plan design and administration
- Client service experience
- Project management experience
- System testing experience (new features, regression testing, etc.)
- Desire for continued advancement and professional growth
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 to 4 years of professional, Defined Benefits administration experience
- Possesses a fundamental knowledge of Defined Benefits industry and professional concepts, principles, practices, and procedures
- Possesses a fundamental knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations and professional standards
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams; experience with VBA a plus)
- Proven track record of being a motivated team player
- Strong problem solver with good analysis skills; experience reconciling data discrepancies
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple simultaneous assignments and meet deadlines, with extraordinary attention to detail
- Ability to self-learn and develop business and technical knowledge quickly
- Ability to learn basic SQL querying
- Takes ownership of work responsibilities
- Demonstrates an open-minded approach to understanding people; effectively works with people at different levels within and outside of the organization
- Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately to different audiences (peers, client contacts, manager, systems and service center teams, etc.)
