Essential Functions and Primary Duties:
- Process claims and other benefit elections forms submitted by retirement plan participants (pension, post-employment medical, deferred compensation, and severance)
- Calculate non-complex retirement plan benefits in accordance with plan provisions and approved administrative procedures
- Prepare estimates, election kits, and other communication materials for retirement plan participants
- Update retirement plan records to reflect reported deaths and process survivor benefits in accordance with plan provisions and prior beneficiary designations
- Prepare and mail required notices to retirement plan participants upon reaching key milestone dates as defined by plan provisions and approved administrative procedures
- Perform quality assurance review of completed retirement plan calculations and related correspondence
- Coordinate payment instructions for survivor benefits and approved retirement plan claims
- Coordinate post-mortem collection/refund of retirement benefits/contributions in accordance with plan provisions and approved administrative procedures
- Coordinate professionally with internal staff and third-party vendors
- Respond to questions from internal and external auditors, as applicable
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's preferred
- General familiarity with employee benefit plans, work experience with retirement plans a plus
- Experience with digital data management systems
- Desire for continued advancement and professional growth
Qualifications Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Zero to two years of relevant work experience in benefits administration
- Proficient use of applicable technology
- Advanced computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Experience with digital data management/filling system is an asset
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills and use of grammar
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment
- Ability to follow standard procedures
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
- Ability to build relationships and trust with internal and external clients and other key stakeholders
