Essential Functions and Primary Duties:

  • Process claims and other benefit elections forms submitted by retirement plan participants (pension, post-employment medical, deferred compensation, and severance) 
  • Calculate non-complex retirement plan benefits in accordance with plan provisions and approved administrative procedures
  • Prepare estimates, election kits, and other communication materials for retirement plan participants
  • Update retirement plan records to reflect reported deaths and process survivor benefits in accordance with plan provisions and prior beneficiary designations
  • Prepare and mail required notices to retirement plan participants upon reaching key milestone dates as defined by plan provisions and approved administrative procedures
  • Perform quality assurance review of completed retirement plan calculations and related correspondence
  • Coordinate payment instructions for survivor benefits and approved retirement plan claims
  • Coordinate post-mortem collection/refund of retirement benefits/contributions in accordance with plan provisions and approved administrative procedures
  • Coordinate professionally with internal staff and third-party vendors
  • Respond to questions from internal and external auditors, as applicable
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's preferred
  • General familiarity with employee benefit plans, work experience with retirement plans a plus
  • Experience with digital data management systems
  • Desire for continued advancement and professional growth

Qualifications Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED 
  • Zero to two years of relevant work experience in benefits administration
  • Proficient use of applicable technology
  • Advanced computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience with digital data management/filling system is an asset
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills and use of grammar
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment
  • Ability to follow standard procedures
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to build relationships and trust with internal and external clients and other key stakeholders
