Essential Functions and Primary Duties:

  • Analyze and reconcile data maintained in connection with retirement plans including pension, retiree medical, deferred compensation and severance. 
  • Process updates to retirement plan data based on external sources (e.g., sponsor HRIS / payroll provider)
  • Calculate retirement plan benefits in accordance with plan provisions and approved administrative procedures
  • Prepare estimates, election kits, and other communication materials for retirement plan participants
  • Assist with the development and ongoing maintenance of web-based portals designed to assist retirement plan participants and sponsors
  • Research retirement plan documents and prior administrative procedures to resolve member and/or sponsor questions
  • Coordinate professionally with third-party vendors
  • Respond to questions from internal and external auditors, as applicable
  • Occasionally attend offsite and onsite client meetings, as applicable
  • Interact with retirement plan sponsors as a day-to-day contact with supervision and support
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Courses in Math, English, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science or Actuarial Science
  • Experience working with data, general knowledge of SQL a plus (e.g., joining tables, specifying criteria, grouping query results, etc.)
  • General familiarity with employee benefit plans, work experience with retirement plans a plus
  • Willingness to take the lead on projects and other assignments involving multiple team members, actual staff management or project management experience a plus
  • Desire for continued advancement and professional growth
  • Ability to analyze system output for agreement with specifications, actual system testing experience a plus (e.g., new feature testing, regression testing, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or GED 
  • Zero to two years of professional, benefits administration experience
  • Possesses fundamental knowledge of industry and professional concepts, principles, practices, and procedures
  • Possesses fundamental knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, and professional standards
  • Proficient use of applicable technology
  • Proficient use of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and enterprise communication and travel solutions (Concur, Skype)
  • Experience performing work that requires initiative and leadership skills
  • Ability to anticipate and elicit customer needs
  • Ability to self-learn and develop business and technical knowledge quickly 
  • Motivated team player with demonstrated interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable working with quick turnaround times and deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Capacity to adapt and work effectively within a variety of situations, and with various individuals or groups
  • Display innovative ideas and solutions and capacity to identify and eliminate redundant work efforts and inefficient processes
  • Ability to travel as necessary
