The Accounting Manager will work closely with the Controller to provide operational and accounting related support and services to the New England region staff.  He/she will act as a liaison between the region and CBIZ Corporate Finance. 

Essential Functions and Primary Duties

  • Prepare and submit weekly, semi-monthly and special batch payrolls for multiple employee segments including post processing compilation of PDF files, posting of related accruals and journal entries and calculate semiannual commission payout.

  • Respond to general accounting related questions form Corporate, MD/D, and Staff. Assist staff in correcting time entry and expense report data entry errors

  • Review and maintain WIP and AR reserve data to address progress applied at 100%, negative gross WIP, and 0% realization for new job templates. Make adjustments to reserve calculations by job as necessary

  • Maintain revenue team assignments, net revenue and realization goals. Assist with Job Partner and Job Manager re-assignments and job roll forwards as needed

  • Utilize Practice Engine time reporting system, to run the monthly Staff Time Reconciliation report, summarize and communicate data, coordinate with other regions and Corporate to track intercompany staff sharing agreements.  Review intra-office time entries, make corrections as necessary, gather documentation and obtain required approvals as appropriate.

  • Prepare weekly sales report for leadership

  • Coordinate with Operations Manager on employee parking, transit, and FSA elections Order and distribute monthly MBTA passes

  • Record monthly accruals and journal entries for both CBIZ and MHM reporting and assist in monthly general ledger close process.

  • Partner with Human Resources to process annual benefits enrollments for HSA, FSA and inter-company employee transfers

  • Prepare and provide key financial reports to the Director of Finance & Operations on operating expenses and accruals

  • Assist Controller with gathering data for internal/external auditor requests

Minimum Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or related field

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in a corporate accounting role

  • Prior experience in public accounting or the professional services industry

  • Strong understanding of all Microsoft office packages, including advanced Excel skills

  • Ability to exercise judgement and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information

  • Communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization internally and externally

  • Ability to work in team environment as well as independently

  • Ability to take initiative, analyze and prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines

  • Ability to travel between our Boston, MA and Providence, RI locations and flexibility to work outside normal office hours during peak periods

Qualifications Strongly Preferred

  • CPA or CMA designation

  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI, Oracle, Practice Engine or related software
