This is an accounting manager role at the Corporate Office for a $1.0 billion division of CBIZ, Inc.  The ideal candidate possesses leadership capabilities, solid operational and technical accounting background and works proactively to drive results.  This person is a self-starter, flexible, has a high level of integrity and is action and goal-oriented in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborate environment.  This position reports to the Director of Finance and Special Projects in Cleveland, Ohio.

General Accounting Essential Functions and Primary Duties

  • Work with a strong financial team in a shared service environment to support financial functions for various business units including the monthly review of WIP and AR reserves across the division and the annual assessment of AR reserve thresholds.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year end close including net liability reclass assessment across the division and balance sheet analytical deliverables.
  • Develop strong relationships with operational leadership team and act as a business partner and consultant to management and Corporate Finance.
  • Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes.
  • Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance, including timely response and partnership regarding deliverables, ad hoc questions, process walkthroughs, report requests, etc.
  • Active participant in special projects to provide efficiencies, standardization, centralization, and automation of financed functions including but not limited to invoice standardization / migration to centralized billing, standardized intercompany billing, standardized resource planning capability, etc.
  • Develop operational insight into existing data sources including but not limited to standard PE pricing template, dashboarding of critical HR related metrics (turnover, time to fill, cost to fill, etc.), key standard operational metrics (pricing yield metrics, realization, etc.).
  • Ability to articulate and clearly communicate multi-faceted business concepts to a wide range of audiences. Agile and flexible, able to thrive in a fluid and ambiguous environment.
  • Project a confident and respectful executive presence that is approachable by everyone.  Work with a wide variety of constituents, both internally and externally.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

M&A Essential Functions and Primary Duties

  • Provide finance and accounting support on integration and divestiture efforts for the Financial Services Division including engagement in financial due diligence efforts, development of initial budget / forecast, and orchestrating, standardizing, and executing on close for the first 3 to 6 months for eventual handoff to FSFG.
  • Key partner with acquisition leadership in the review and explanation of monthly financial statements and applicable variances with a focus on customer service.
  • Provide support to ensure matters associated with CBIZ financial systems including general ledger, fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, travel and entertainment, and payroll systems are integrated appropriately.
  • Partner with operational leadership and process owners to remedy challenged integration processes through root cause analysis and problem management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • CPA Preferred

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Must possess analytical skills
  • Proficient use of applicable technology
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of an organization
  • Ability to travel as required by business
