Essential Functions and Primary Duties

  • Manage a portfolio of clients and provide top-level accounting support
  • Lead and review monthly closes and produce monthly internal financials
  • Build and maintain schedules to support monthly closes, including releases of net assets
  • Prepare and record monthly journal entries
  • Ensure the accuracy and timely completion of all assigned client work
  • Review general ledger data, identify errors, and outline efficient corrections
  • Create, deliver, and/or file financial grant reports
  • Manage annual budgeting process and audits
  • Manage payroll processes and monitor payroll tax filings
  • Proactively anticipate clients’ needs and propose solutions to current or future challenges
  • Train, mentor and supervise junior accounting staff
  • Participate in practice development activities (prospective client meetings, networking, identifying cross-selling opportunities)
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Preferred Qualifications 

  • 5-7 years Full-Cycle Accounting Responsibilities, Minimum 3 years with Non-Profit Organizations
  • Able to produce Statements of Functional Expenses
  • Able to accurately track restricted net assets and produce funder reports as needed
  • Experience with single audits (previously known as A-133 audits)
  • Able and eager to mentor junior staff
  • Experienced with on-line systems (set-up and operations): QBO, Bill.com, Expensify, Gusto, etc.


Minimum Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree required 
  • 6 years of experience in related field
  • 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Must have and preserve required licenses
  • Ability to manage all aspects of client engagements
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
  • Proficient use of applicable technology
  • Must be able to travel based on client and business needs
